Greek stocks top performers globally in 2019

The Greek stock market topped the list of performers globally in 2019, with a spectacular annual jump of 49.47 pct, adding around 16 billion euros to its capitalization. The general index of the market eased 0.12 pct to end at 916.67 points in the last session of the year.

Turnover was a low 36.449 million euros in volume of 11,587,588 shares. The Large Cap index fell 0.11 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.31 pct higher. Fourlis (1.58 pct), Eurobank (1.27 pct) and Lamda Development (1.11 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Viohalco (2.17 pct), Motor Oil (1.53 pct) and ADMIE (1.49 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Health (2.37 pct) and Commerce (1.59 pct) moved up, while Travel (1.0 pct) and Oil (0.77 pct) moved down. Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day.

Broadly, advancers led decliners by 54 to 37 with another 28 issues unchanged. Audiovisual (9.16 pct) and Newsphone Hellas (8.73 pct) were top gainers, while Haidemenos (8.0 pct) and Pairis (6.97 pct) were top losers.
