Artificial kidney unit opens on Santorini

The kidney dialysis unit that started operating on the island of Santorini on Wednesday will end the hardship endured by the island’s 20 kidney patients, who until now had to be taken to Athens for treatment three times a week, stated Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias.

The minister said that the execution of the project had delayed in the last three years, despite the previous government’s announcements, and was now being delivered to kidney patients who lived on the island, as well as meeting potential needs of the tourists who came to Santorini in large numbers, especially during the summer months.
