An Astoria man has been arrested after he tried to coerce an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy into having sex with him.
Jason Seto, 41, was charged in Brooklyn federal court Friday with knowingly trying to persuade a minor to engage in sexual activity with him over the course of two weeks between Aug. 21 and Sept. 5.
The defendant was apprehended by NYPD officers at about 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 when he attempted to meet up with the boy at the Five Guys Restaurant in La Guardia Airport.
Seto first contacted undercover NYPD Detective Damon Gergar on a dating application on Aug. 21. Seto sent Gergar a picture of his face and a picture of his genitals.
Gergar told Seto that he was 14, according to the criminal complaint, to which Seto responded “cool” and continued to communicate. He said that 14 was the “perfect age.”
Seto repeatedly told the undercover cop that he wanted to kiss him and give him oral sex over the course of the following two weeks, according to the criminal complaint. He also asked that the detective delete all message history.
The defendant frequently requested meeting up with the undercover detective and gave vivid descriptions of what sexual acts he would perform when they did.
He also suggested watching child pornography when they met up and sent Gergar four pornographic videos that appeared to feature underage boys.
Seto persistently asked to meet up and Gergar eventually suggested meeting in Five Guys at La Guardia, which Seto agreed to.
Police officers followed Seto from his Astoria home to the restaurant and made the arrest when he entered Five Guys.
Seto admitted to being the one who sent the messages to the police officer upon his arrest.
