The search for a 34-year old astrophysicist from Britain that went missing on Monday on the Aegean island of Ikaria continued on Wednesday.
A military helicopter arrived on Tuesday evening to Ikaria equipped with a geolocation instrument to track the woman’s mobile phone.
Police are trying to solve the mystery of the woman’s phone which initially seemed to be shut but suddenly on Tuesday it started giving a signal from the antenna of Fourni island which is just opposite from the area of Kerame, Ikaria where the search is in progress.
However, the efforts by the mobile phone company were fruitless and the geolocation instrument was considered necessary to be sent to Ikaria.
In parallel, police, firemen and volunteers continue searching the remote area of Kerame.
Pictures of the missing woman have been posted on social media, and any information on the circumstances of her disappearance can be forwarded to the local police on 2275-022222.
