Mrs. India Worldwide beauty pageant to be hosted in Greece for a second consecutive year

One of India’s prime beauty contests, the Haute Monde Mrs. India Worldwide beauty pageant, will be held in Greece for a second consecutive year in 2019, was announced on Thursday.
The 2018 event of Mrs. India Worldwide was held on the island of Rhodes and deemed a success by organizer Shri Sai Entertainments, so it was decided to hold the pageant again in Greece in 2019. It has also been held in Dubai, Myanmar, Vietnam, and of course India.
Mrs. India Worldwide 2019 comprises 175 beauty queens, their relatives, the event’s organizers and fashion design students from India.
Since 2008, Mrs. India Worldwide has celebrated the personality of married women in India, but according to the event’s Art Director Sylvie Rodgers, “the participants in this competition are not only distinguished for their beauty and personality,” she said, “they are married or divorced, aged 18 to 49 and most are highly educated.”
Rogers added that “this competition opens a new, different window in their lives, as they gain a lot of publicity, while many opportunities come up in their life from this, either to start a new career or to move ahead professionally,” she explained.
The competition has an international character, the President of the pageant’s organization Bharat Bhramar pointed out to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
“This competition is very popular in India, a country with a very large population,” said Bhramar, and highlighted that the contestants’ videos and photos will be shot against major attractions in Halkidiki, Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia, while the event is expected to be viewed by up to 150 million people worldwide, via the social media of the contestants and coverage by Indian television and radio stations.
A working meeting was held on Thursday at the hotel complex Porto Carras Grand Resort in Halkidiki, northern Greece, where the pageant will be held, attended by the President of the PanHellenic Federation of Hoteliers and Halkidiki Hoteliers Association, Grigoris Tassios, Halkidiki Tourism Organization executives and the organizers of the event for Greece Katerina Mousbeh, General Manager of Mideast Travel Worldwide-the event’s official international travel sponsor, and Christina Karamihou, Managing Director of The Concierge company.
As Mousbeh pointed out, Mrs. India Worldwide is an institution that highlights the strength and character of Indian married women.
“Since 2008, Mrs. India Worldwide, with the sole purpose of empowering women, has managed to broaden the horizons of many women and give them the opportunity to live the dream of Bollywood, which has made this event so special, India’s largest leading beauty pageant,” she noted.
“India is a very dynamic and ever-evolving tourism market, and the realization of this pageant in Greece for a second consecutive year is a hallmark of the high level of service and hospitality the country offers,” underlined Mousbeh.
“It is very important for this effort that we have the support of the National Tourism Organization (EOT) and the Ministry of Tourism, but also the support of the Region of Central Macedonia, the Tourism Organization of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki, as well as other important tourism operators, which shows yet again that synergies are the key to the success of all major ventures,” Karamihou noted.
Of note is the fact that India will be the honored country at this year’s Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), scheduled to take place September 7-15.
Mrs. India Worldwide is scheduled to take place in October 10-20, at the Porto Carras Grand Resort in Halkidiki, northern Greece, and is supported by the Embassy of India in Greece.
